The Portfolio

With The Ministry Fund, we are committed to managing funds from the perspective of faithful stewardship. Our goal is to help you do more for the Kingdom through the funds entrusted to your ministry.

Investing Strategy
The investment philosophy of The Ministry Fund is to provide Christian ministries an institutionally managed, biblically screened investment portfolio that provides consistent income, offsets the negative impact of inflation, and manages market volatility through appropriate diversification. The investment objective of The Ministry Fund is to provide an average return of 7.5% over a full market cycle (5-7 years). This objective enables the portfolio to pay out approximately 5% annually and retain 2.5% in the portfolio to offset inflation.
Biblical Screening
Our goal as believers is to avoid the things of the world, knowing that perfect avoidance is impossible until we stand before God.
Institutional Management
The Ministry Fund provides the opportunity for ministries with smaller accounts to invest with institutional class managers who would normally require much larger account sizes to access their services. The Ministry Fund is managed by a host of professional institutional investment managers with a track record of outperformance. The investment managers represent a variety of different asset classes with unique investment approaches.
Diversification
The asset allocation within The Fund is driven by the overall investment objective. Specific equity, fixed income, and alternative investment asset classes are used in the portfolio at the targeted percentage for each allocation shown in the graph. Portfolio allocations are subject to change. The portfolio allocation is reviewed quarterly and is not rebalanced unless the imbalance exceeds 2%. It is recognized that market action may cause an imbalance in the interim period. However, such fluctuations are normal and acceptable.
Income Spending Policy
Payout distributed from The Ministry Fund is based on the Income Spending Policy. The Income Spending Policy payout shall be calculated and distributed as similar to a dividend for each unit of the pool. The payout percentage will be reviewed annually with the intent to increase the payout each year unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
Long-Term Record
The Ministry Fund was established in October of 1983. For over 40 years, The Ministry Fund has provided consistent investment management over multiple market cycles. Having weathered four significant market declines (1986, 2002, 2008, 2020), the Fund has proven its sustainability during down markets.

For example, an account valued at $10,000 would pay a fee of $80 annually. The fee is deducted from a combination of both the principle balance and the accumulated income. The principle portion of the fee is prorated and deducted on a monthly basis. The balance of the fee is deducted on a quarterly basis from the accumulative income.
